Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 October 2026

This policy explains how MJM Connect Ltd (“we”, “us”), trading as needatrader.co.uk, uses personal data when you visit our website, search for a trader, list a business, advertise, or work with us as a sales agent.

We are the data controller for this information under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

MJM Connect Ltd, Company Reg No. 15123552. Contact us about privacy at info@needatrader.co.uk.

2. Information we collect

Customers: name, email, phone, postcode, job details, messages and quote requests you send to traders, reviews you write, and favourites.

Traders: business name, contact name, email, phone, address and service area, trades, photos, logo, insurance and ID-verification documents, billing records (payments are processed by Stripe — we never see full card numbers), messages and leads.

Publicly listed businesses we have not yet heard from: business name, trade, address, phone, website and public ratings gathered from publicly available business sources.

Sales agents: identity and contact details, agreement acceptance records (including time, IP address and device), sales and commission records, and bank details for payouts.

Everyone: searches made on the site, pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location and referring site.

3. How we use it and our lawful bases

  • To provide the service (accounts, listings, connecting customers and traders, messages, reviews, payments) — performance of a contract.
  • To verify traders and prevent fraud or fake reviews — legitimate interests and legal obligations.
  • To list publicly available businesses and invite them to claim their free listing — legitimate interests in running a useful, complete directory. Businesses can ask us to remove a listing at any time.
  • To send service emails (account, lead, review and billing notices) — performance of a contract.
  • To send sales and marketing emails to businesses — legitimate interests (business-to-business). Every message includes an unsubscribe link.
  • To pay agents and keep accounting records — contract and legal obligations (HMRC requires records for 6 years).
  • To understand and improve the site — legitimate interests, using privacy-friendly analytics.

4. Automated and AI-assisted messages

Some sales emails to businesses are drafted and answered with the help of AI, under our supervision. These do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you. You can ask for a human at any time by replying or emailing us.

5. Who we share data with

When you contact a trader, we share your enquiry details with that trader. Trader listings and reviews are public. We also use trusted processors to run the service:

  • Hosting, database and authentication providers
  • Stripe (payments and subscriptions)
  • Email delivery providers (including Resend)
  • Plausible Analytics (cookie-free website statistics)
  • AI model providers used to draft messages

We do not sell personal data. We may disclose data where required by law or to protect our rights.

6. International transfers

Some providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum to protect your data.

7. How long we keep data

  • Account data: while your account is active and up to 2 years after closure.
  • Billing, commission and payout records: 6 years.
  • ID-verification documents: deleted once checks are complete, retaining only the result.
  • Agent agreement acceptances: 6 years after the agreement ends.
  • Unclaimed listings: until removal is requested or the business is no longer trading.
  • Reviews: while the related listing remains on the site.

8. Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete or restrict use of your data, object to processing (including any marketing, which we will always stop), and request a copy in a portable format. Email info@needatrader.co.uk; we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

9. Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and restricted storage for sensitive data such as ID documents and bank details. No system is completely secure, so please keep your password safe.

10. Children

Our service is not intended for anyone under 18.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version; significant changes will be notified by email or on the site.
